Poems on the "Spirit of the Planet: Human, Humane and Holy."

"We May Be Alone, Together."

John H. Frenster, M.D.

Here on this little ball, Spinning each day, each year
For a billion years, In the dark cold of space

We are together, Six billion or more
Warm together, In our sunshine

In our loves and joys, In our births and deaths
Never leaving, Always recycling

Pink in Spring, Green in Summer
Gold in Fall, White in Winter

Too easy to forget, Too hard to remember
That so far, so far, We are alone

We will reach out, And perhaps find
Another lonely planet, Beyond a distant star

With water, soil, Light and heat
Grass, trees, air, Just like ours

Animals, perhaps, Or even Humans
But now, right now, We are alone

So let us live today, Together here
Even if we are alone, Everywhere else.
